Glycerol Test
Glycerol dehydrated inner ear and hence improves the cochlear function and hearing. This test is useful in diagnosis of Meniere’s Disease. This test can be done in cases with Fluctuating SNHL, Episodic Vertigo, Ear Heaviness and Tinnitus or Vertigo Cases.
1. Glycerol Test Positive –
This suggests of Endolymphatic hydrops contributing to hearing loss, vertigo and tinnitus. In these cases Diuretics are usually prescribed
2. Glycerol Test Negative –
Normal Audition or may be in cases with other cochlear deafness
