- Fluency Disorder (example- Stuttering / Stammering or cluttering) is a disruption to the functional flow of speech.
- Fluency Disorder can be characterized by Frequent Repetitions of Speech sounds, syllables, words and phrases while speaking which comes under Primary Behaviours. Secondary Behaviour such as Blinking, Head Jerks, Hand or leg movements etc. are developed with advancement of Time.
- Stuttering- Also Known as stammering, is characterized by repetitions, blocks, hesitation and prolongations. It occurs because there is interruption in the flow of speech. Person having this issue shows effortful, stressed, pressured, hurried or feeling self- concious while speaking. More problems will be in the group discussions or public presentations or on a telephonic conversation.
- Cluttering- it is characterized by irregular speech rates, poor grammar, which makes speech unintelligible (slurred speech) for the listener and needs repetition. Such person speaks with very Fast Rate and Omits the word endings while speaking. Usually such persons are not aware for their problems.
